Associate Designer

 
 

Responsibilities

The interior design associate position is a support role for the day-to-day operation of our design projects, and shall be assisting primarily the principal interior designer on major projects in design documentation, budgeting breakdowns, tendering/estimates gathering and overseeing RAAW Contracting’s (our contracting division) C.O. execution, supplier follow ups and is responsible for issuing on-going construction-design documentation related to site instructions and design directives. The principal interior designer carries out design processes, client consultation and presentations; the associate designer is also required in the preparation of material boards, product samples/ and verification to specifications which the Principal designer issues. This role will involve office/admin duties in design management and knowledge in interior design as per NCIDQ is required. The candidate may be in the process of accumulating experience hours towards obtaining his or her CIDQ qualification. Professional guidance in practicum shall be provided, and work-flow is to be followed as per industry requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • able to work and multitask under pressure

  • adequacy in Autodesk AutoCAD 2020, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Powerpoint and IOS Keynote. Proficiency in Revit 2021 is an asset but not required. Company-paid training in Revit is provided upon fulfillment of the probation period.

  • basic knowledge of excel for administrative bookkeeping logging, editing of invoices and over seeing accounts receivable is needed.

  • adequacy in mobile communication App including WeChat and Instagram

  • fluency in English is mandatory, both in written and verbal communications.

  • minimum interior design education from a recognized institution: Certificate (CID)

  • own a personal vehicle, driver license is mandatory. (Employee vehicle use during job is to be tracked on a milage log and will be reimbursed on a monthly basis).

  • passion in interior design, sustainable design practices (LEED, Passive House building practices) are an asset, for qualified candidates.

  • fluency in mandarin is not mandatory.


CONTRACT PROJECT COORDINATOR

Responsibilities

This is our qualified project coordinator position, which is by-contract only. We on-board project coordinators for large commercial, multi-family residential and projects that usually span for over 1 year process in design-build. The ideal candidate is someone who is a professional in project management, with multiple projects on-the-go. This is not an in-house position which we offer training for. We are expecting a professional level of management and coordination skills from the contract project coordinator, of which site-visits and on-going client progress reports, defect reports and design quality-control is to be performed. 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • able to work and multitask under pressure

  • able to maintain professionalism under all circumstances

  • owns his or her personal project management operation AND/OR works for multiple clients in the project management field.

  • advance knowledge in project coordination, involving a full range of trades, sub trades and qualified professionals.

  • adequacy in mobile communication App including WeChat and Google applications.

  • fluency in English is mandatory.

  • minimum project management related education from a recognized institution in North America with certification.

  • A professional project portfolio and personal website/ company website is required to be presented for both Residential and Commercial fields.

  • own a personal vehicle, driver license is mandatory.


PART-TIME TECHNICIAN 

Responsibilities

This is a part-time support role for our in-house design team. We are looking for technicians on an on-going basis. The ideal candidate is someone who is willing to learn, and is eager to gain field experience in the design industry. We require 20-hours weekly with flexible schedule. The technician can drop in and out of our office on a time-log as long as work gets done! 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • able to work and multitask under pressure

  • able to maintain professionalism under all circumstances

  • able to communicate effectively and efficiently with our project team

  • up-to-date knowledge of BCBC

  • able to do research within each municipality's Building Permit department for code verification

  • Good competency in Autodesk AutoCAD 2015-17 and Sketchup-Pro (efficiency in drafting and accuracy in plan checking is crucial.)

  • Knowledge in operating Revit and 3DsMax is an asset

  • Certificate or diploma in interior design, architectural building science or other related fields from BCIT or other accredited education institutions in Canada is required.

  • selected candidates will be called into our office for a tour, and an initial interview

  • top candidates will be call in for a second interview, and meeting with the team

Additional details related to your application:

  • a design orientation is given within the first week of on-boarding (part-time up to 25 hours per week of schedule during the first week)

  • job-compatibility is assessed throughout a 3-month (480 work hours) probation period. Monthly reviews are given throughout the probation period for improvements and adjustments.

  • Assessment at the end of the probation period shall determine the final position assignment.

  • All compensations are to be negotiated in person based on qualifications, performance and assessment.
